Written: E-Mail to a nursing home

Hello! In this article I would like to show you an open letter to the head of a care home. I wrote the following lines for someone from my closest circle of friends and family. They are about his father-in-law, who was suffering from dementia. The idea for this email came up in a conversation with a caregiver, but unfortunately it was never sent out. After the death of the aforementioned father-in-law, they simply wanted to be done with the situation and that´s perfectly understandable. How I got to know Straightline It’s been six years since a friend and I wanted to visit the “Backstage” in Munich on a Friday night. “Misconduct” from Sweden performed live, the entrance fee was less than ten euros and otherwise there wasn’t much else going on that night . Geschriebenes: E-Mail an ein Pflegeheim

Hallo zusammen! In diesem Beitrag möchte ich euch eine Art offenen Brief an den Chef eines Pflegeheims lesen lassen. Die nachfolgenden Zeilen habe ich für jemanden aus meinem engsten Bekanntenkreis verfasst. Sie handeln von seinem Schwiegervater, der im Alter an Demenz erkrankt ist. Die Idee für diese E-Mail entstand im Gespräch mit einer Vermittlerin für Pflegekräfte, doch wurde die Mail nie abgeschickt. Nach dem Tod des erwähnten Schwiegervaters wollte man einfach mit der Situation abschießen, was für mich vollkommen verständlich ist. Musik: Straigthline

Wie ich Straightline kennen gelernt habe Es ist inzwischen etwa sechs Jahre her, da wollte ich an einem Freitag Abend mit einem Kumpel nach München ins Backstage. “Misconduct” aus Schweden traten live auf, der Eintritt lag unter zehn Euro und sonst war an dem Abend nicht viel geboten. Als Support waren damals zwei lokale Bands geplant. Wir haben von den Vorbands nicht viel erwartet, sondern wollten einfach nur den Headliner sehen. Was im Endeffekt abging, war unbeschreiblich. UK: London

Warum eigentlich London? Von Ende Januar bis etwa Mitte März 2017 wohnten Tes und ich im schönen London. Leider ging dann das Arbeitsverhältnis mit unserem gemeinsamen Arbeitgeber in die Brüche und es trieb uns erstmal wieder in die Heimat und dann auf Reisen. Trotz dem unschönen Ende war die Zeit in London unvergesslich und ich möchte euch hier ein paar Eindrücke der Stadt geben. Sie ist schließlich auch die Kulisse für mein erstes Buch Mitternachtssonne. Romania: Hunedoara

Hunedoara – a castle from a fairy tale After an hour’s drive, we reached our last planned destination on our tour through Romania: Hunedoara. The German name “Eisenmarkt” (roughly: steel market) derives from the fact, that Romania´s second largest iron works were located in the 60.000 people industrial city. As we drove through town, we could not find any particularities at first glance and therefore only visited the landmark: Castelul Corvinilor (Hunedoara Castle). Rumänien: Hunedoara

Hunedoara – eine Burg wie aus einem Märchen Von Sibiu aus erreichten wir nach einer Stunde Fahrt unsere letzte geplante Station auf der Rumänienrundfahrt: Hunedoara (Eisenmarkt) mit seinen etwa 60.000 Einwohner. Der deutsche Name Eisenmarkt (manchmal auch Eisenstadt) rügt daher, dass hier die zweitgrößte Eisenhütte Rumäniens angesiedelt war. Wir sind zwar durch die Stadt gefahren, konnten aber keinerlei Besonderheiten entdecken und beschränkten uns dadurch auf die Besichtigung des Wahrzeichens: Castelul Corvinilor (Burg Hunedoara). Diese wurde im 14. bis 15. Jahrhundert erbaut und hat eine schöne Lage auf einem Felsen. Am Fuß der Burg läuft außerdem ein kleiner Bach, der das Ganze noch malerischer macht. Rumänien: Bran – Transfagarasan – Sibiu

Schloss Bran… Von Brasov aus fuhren wir etwa 45 Minuten bis zum Schloss Bran. Den Touristen wird dieses Bauwerk als das Schloss Draculas verkauft. Richtig ist allerdings, dass Vlad Tepes die alten Gemäuer nie betreten hat. Einzig die Beschreibung von Bram Stoker in seinem Roman “Dracula” passt auf das Aussehen der Burg. Das richtige Zuhause Draculas soll die Burg Poenari (angeblich!) sein. Castle Bran… We drove about 45 minutes from Brasov to Castle Bran. The building is advertised as Dracula’s castle to tourists. The truth is, however, that Vlad Tepes never set foot in the old walls. Only a description of Bram Stoker in his novel “Dracula” fits its appearance, while the real home of Dracula is the castle of Poenari (allegedly!). Romania: Sighișoara – Cetatea Rupea – Brașov

Sighișoara – Draculas flair After arriving in Sighișoara in the evening, we put our luggage in our room and went on a discovery tour. The small city has almost 30,000 inhabitants and the city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Strolling through the narrow, paved streets is definitely enough to fall in love with the city. Especially at dusk, the town gives away a flair of Dracula and can creep you out easily. It is said that Vlad Tepes (actually Vlad III Draculea) was born in this city.
