By the way: If you want to be informed about the publication of my blog posts, I recommend an RSS feed or to follow me on my author page on Facebook. But now have fun with my snapshots: A ladybug on a flower, while I was out for a walk. A rogue who sees something dirty here. This is the Harburg in Harburg, very close to where I live. A guided tour of the castle is highly recommended. A […]

Germany – Lindau

Lindau – Sonthofen – Kempten – Starzlachklamm – The source of the Iller – Alpaca tour During the 2020 pandemic, my partner Tes and I spent ten days housesitting in Sonthofen in the Allgäu region at the end of May. We had eleven rescued cats to look after and visited a few places around Sonthofen. Somehow I didn’t manage to take more than five pictures in Sonthofen. But, I did take some in Lindau, Kempten, on an alpaca hike, in the Starzlachklamm and on a hike to the source of the Iller river. Since most of them are from Lindau, I have named this post after the town on Lake Constance. […]

Austria – Hallstatt

Hallstatt Hallstatt is a small municipality in Austria’s Salzkammergut region with a population of almost 800 people, who receive visits from around 700,000 to 900,000 tourists every year. The municipality and region at and around Lake Hallstatt are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and one of only 20 World Heritage Sites that hold the title of natural and cultural heritage at the same time. In Hallstatt, in addition to the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (one of the most beautiful churches I have ever been to), there is the ossuary, which is unique in the world. However, like most attractions, it was closed when we visited. I still […]

He owns his own gallery and has prepared a special exhibition for children. While strolling through his painted memories, Leo tells about the worst time of his life: When his mother got sick and died. He has put the most important events onto paper to help other children, who have also experienced something bad. He explains, that being sad is a phase, from which a lot of […]

Germany: Berlin

The capital – Die Hauptstadt We arrived in Berlin via Flixbus and used public transportation to get to a friend´s apartment. He hosted us for four days and helped us with orientation and everything else we needed (Thanks Effe!). We visited the usual tourist highlights as the East Side Gallery, Alexanderplatz, the TV Tower and the Brandenburg Gate. In addition, of course, we checked out the Berlin Cathedral, the Reichstag and Checkpoint Charlie. In general, the German capital is a magnet for tourists. Every year, 31.000.000 overnight stays are booked in the countless hotels. Therefore, Berlin is the third most popular tourist destination in Europe, right after Paris and London. The […]
